Setting the Record Straight: A Response to Misplaced Diagnosis of BJP’s 2024 Mandate

Today morning I came across a published piece by a seasoned political commentator who goes on to overimplify his analyss of the 2024 Lok Sabha election by observing: "Though the BJP won the third parliamentary election last year and created a record of installing Narendra Modi as the first non-Congress PM to be sworn in for the third time in a row, the public anger was indeed felt. The shockingly low number of LS seats won in 2024 was a jolt to Modi and Amit Shah, the chief strategist, personally. Shah's alleged rivalry with Yogi resulted in humiliating show of the party in the largest State."

While some commentators are quick to interpret the reduced tally of BJP seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a sign of public anger or internal discord, such assessments are both superficial and misleading. I hold a different view rooted in ground realities and a broader civilizational lens.

The dip in numbers must be seen in the context of an unholy alliance of political opportunists and ideological adversaries—ranging from jihadist elements to entrenched vote-bank forces—who ganged up in desperation. Parties like the Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, NCP (Sharad Pawar), RJD, Aam Admi Party, CPI, and Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) have, time and again, shown their willingness to stoop to any low to pander to sectarian interests, particularly to appease Muslim voters. The DMK and its ecosystem of rabid Dravidian separatists—whose politics is built on denigrating Bharat’s civilizational unity—deserve a special mention for their divisive and corrosive rhetoric.

This axis of appeasement thrives on a deeply embedded and dangerously outdated Nehruvian template of statecraft and pedagogy—one that has for decades distorted our history, alienated our youth from their cultural moorings, and institutionalised intellectual dishonesty. The rot has crept into even the highest Constitutional offices, distorting their actions and judgments in ways that often undermine the very spirit of Bharat.

Let us not confuse the epic task of civilizational reclamation with the temporary setbacks that arise from battling such entrenched forces. The BJP under Narendra Modi is not merely fighting electoral contests; it is leading a resistance against decades of cultural decimation and institutional subversion. To compare such an epochal effort with the antics of those who malign India on global platforms, side with hostile narratives, and bask in intellectual self-flagellation, is not just naive—it is an affront to the sacrifices of leaders like Sardar Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

This is not about one election or a few seats. It is about restoring the soul of a nation. And those committed to this cause deserve our respect—not flippant analyses couched in partisan cynicism.
